Jaguars interviewing Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia

The Jacksonville Jaguars are interviewing Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia for their vacant HC job, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday morning.

Bisaccia had the hard task this past season of taking over as Raiders interim head coach after Jon Gruden resigned in light of emails and other statements being uncovered in which the long-time coach used homophobic and misogynistic language. Under Bisaccia, Vegas overcame a mid-season slump to wedge into the NFL playoffs before losing to the now Super Bowl-bound Cincinnati Bengals.

While a good chunk of the Raiders' fan base seemed to like Bisaccia in the head-coaching role, Raiders brass looked elsewhere. Vegas is reportedly in the process of hiring New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to be their new HC, although no formal announcement has been made yet. The Raiders are expected to announce the hiring of Dave Ziegler, also from the Patriots, as their new general manager this week.

The Chicago Bears are speculated to be looking at Bisaccia to join their coaching staff, although no major outlet has reported he has interviewed with the team.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, have been searching for a new head coach since firing Urban Meyer in what was a disastrous first attempt at coaching at the NFL level. In addition to Jacksonville going 2-11 with Meyer at the helm, he also drudged up enough off-field drama to force Jaguars brass to relieve him of his duties before the season was over.
