The NFL Draft is one of the most chaotic events in sports, and this year is no different. After the Tennessee Titans shocked nobody with the selection of Cam Ward from Miami (FL), the Cleveland Browns were fielding all kinds of calls for the second-overall pick leading up until they were on the clock.
As it turns out, the Jacksonville Jaguars broke through, and the two struck a massive trade. The Jaguars jumped up three spots from the fifth-overall pick to get the right to draft the top talent in the draft outside of Ward.
The Jaguars sent picks 5, 36, 126, and next year's first-round
The Browns sent picks 2, 104, and 200.
The Browns and Jaguars a trade:
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2025
Browns receive: 5th overall pick (1st round), 36th overall pick (2nd round), 126th overall pick (4th round) and 2026 1st round pick
Jaguars receive: 2nd overall pick (1st round), 104th overall pick (4th round), 200th overall pick (6th round)
To this point, the overwhelming favorite to be picked fifth has been Mason Graham out of Michigan. It legitimately got to the point that predicting Graham was considered to be boring and *insert Squidward "How original...daring today, aren't we?"* meme.
Then, over the last few weeks, there has been some serious smoke about the Jaguars selecting Boise State freak of nature running back, Ashton Jeanty. While his talent is unquestionable, what is the value of a running back in today's NFL?
As of this writing, the prevailing idea is that the Jaguars are going to select Colorado star and Heisman Trophy-winning two-way player, Travis Hunter. If that is the pick, it will be well worth it. Whether he plays defense, offense, or any combination of the two, Hunter will become the best player on the field.
Pairing him with Brian Thomas Jr. would just be unfair, even if on a part-time basis.
