Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence 'on the same page' with new HC Doug Pederson

In multiple ways, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence endured a lost 2021 rookie season. First-year head coach Urban Meyer generated unfortunate and embarrassing off-the-field headlines during the fall and was then fired in December when Jacksonville was 2-11, and Lawrence spent the entire campaign without having injured rookie running back and Clemson teammate Travis Etienne in the backfield.

Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson officially earned the Jacksonville gig in February, and his most important job in 2022 may be to get the first-overall pick of last year's draft back on the right path. Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Lawrence spoke with reporters Tuesday and offered high praise for his new coach.

"I really like his demeanor. He’s really, really calm," Lawrence explained about Pederson. "Never gets too high or too low, I really like that. That’s the type of guy I like to be around. Offensively he brings a lot of different things to the table."

Lawrence added: "I think we align pretty well and we’re on the same page."

According to ESPN stats, Lawrence finished his debut season 30th among eligible quarterbacks with a 71.9 passer rating, 28th with a 33.5 total QBR, 28th with 12 passing touchdowns and tied for a league-worst 17 interceptions. In short, the 22-year-old could use a fresh start under Pederson this spring.
