Jaguars RB James Robinson carted off with torn Achilles

An awful season for the Jacksonville Jaguars got worse Sunday when running back James Robinson was carted off and immediately ruled out by the team with an Achilles injury. According to Ian Rapoport, it's a torn Achilles for Robinson and he'll undergo an MRI will determine the severity.

Robinson, 23, was a breakout star in 2020 when he broke the record for yards from scrimmage by an undrafted rookie. He finished his first season in the NFL with 1,070 rushing yards, 344 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns. That production fell off in his second season, though, as Robinson and coach Urban Meyer seemed to butt heads before Meyer was fired.

Assuming Robinson's season is over, he finishes 2021 with 767 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

The Jaguars are in line for the first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft thanks to a 2-12 record. In addition to Robinson's injury, the team also lost receivers D.J. Chark and Jamal Agnew to the injured reserve.

Earlier Sunday, Rapoport reported Byron Leftwich, Doug Pederson and Jim Caldwell are three candidates to take over as head coach of the Jaguars in 2022.
