The Jacksonville Jaguars concluded their season with a record of 4-13 after losing 26-23 to the Indianapolis Colts, who finished at 8-9.
The Jaguars most certainly did not tank the final game. Quarterback Mac Jones completed 20 of his 32 attempts, throwing for 225 yards and one touchdown. Tank Bigsby managed to find some space against a tough Colts defense, rushing for 39 yards on 14 carries, including a touchdown.
The Head Coach of the Jaguars, Doug Pederson said of his team’s efforts, “appreciate every one of those guys in there. They worked their tails off. They worked hard for me. They didn't quit on me, they didn't quit on each other and they battled to the end. So, these are hard moments, because there's obviously no more football for the season.”
The receivers were led by Brian Thomas Jr., who recorded seven receptions for an impressive total of 103 yards. He concludes his rookie season with 1,282 yards and ten touchdowns.
Brenton Strange also made notable contributions, finishing with four catches for 60 yards.
Defensively, Jacksonville delivered a commendable performance, highlighted by Devin Lloyd and Travon Walker, each of whom recorded a quarterback sack.
Pederson concluded his thoughts by trying to summarize what went wrong this season. “I mean, those are all things that now obviously I get a chance to sit back and take a look at and evaluate. I think that's what needs to take place. And then you can probably put a finger on the whys. Obviously, we're all in it together. The accountability is everybody and be able to get that. But those are, whatever comes out of that, that's what we’ve got to fix, right? That’s what we’ve got to fix moving forward.”
The Jaguars will pick 5th in April’s NFL Draft.
