The Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping for great things this season.

They brought in a number of players on offense, including Zay Jones, Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Brandon Scherff.

The Jaguars will also have running back Travis Etienne who missed the entire 2021 season due to a Lisfranc injury.

On defense, Jacksonville also signed Folorunso Fatukasi, Foyesade Oluokun, and Darious Williams.

Jacksonville also used the 2022 NFL Draft to select defensive end Travon Walker and linebacker Devin Lloyd in the first round.

Finally, they brought in Doug Pederson as head coach after negotiations with Byron Leftwich faltered.

However, Pederson is a fantastic alternative because he already won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.

With him at the helm, he brought in coaches that will help develop their young talent, especially Trevor Lawrence.

For that reason, Pederson will have Mike McCoy as his quarterbacks coach.

Sports anchor Jamal St. Cyr tweeted a short video wherein McCoy was seen working with Jacksonville’s quarterbacks.

As of writing, the team has Lawrence, C.J. Beathard, Jake Luton, and EJ Perry on the depth chart.

Undoubtedly, Lawrence remains the team’s starter after a rookie season with 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.

Pederson and McCoy will help improve Lawrence’s decision-making, especially against more complex defenses in the NFL.

McCoy’s Coaching Career

Before joining the Jaguars, McCoy was the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator in 2018.

A year before, he was handling the same role with the Denver Broncos.

His coaching career started in 2000 after playing three seasons in NFL Europe.

The Carolina Panthers brought him in as an offensive assistant and he stayed with the team until 2008.

McCoy was also the then-San Diego Chargers’ head coach from 2013 to 2016.

After consecutive 9-7 seasons, he finished his stint in San Diego with 4-12 and 5-11 records.
