Jaguars Stadium Will Have Very Limited Capacity In 2026

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be looking to follow up their 13-4 season with another impressive campaign in 2026, but not many fans will be there to see it if it happens.

The Jaguars' recent home playoff loss to the Bills saw more than 70,000 people in attendance. However the franchise's new stadium renovations will nearly cut that in half next year, according to reports.

There once was a time where the Jags couldn't get people to come to their stadium. And now they'll be forced to turn folks away as they invest more than $1 billion into EverBank Stadium.

Jaguars to cap stadium capacity to 43,000 in 2026

Per Garry Smits of the Florida Times-Union, the $1.4 billion in upgrades for the Jaguars' stadium will limit capacity to 43,000 fans next season.

Only the lower bowl of the stadium will be open. And, according to Smits, the signature cabanas and pool will likely will be closed for 2026 as well.

Jacksonville's stadium construction won't just impact '26 either, as the Jags will be required to play elsewhere in 2027 before returning to the fully-renovated version of EverBank Stadium in 2028.

The organization has yet to lock in where that will be just yet, but all signs seem to he pointing to Orlando's Camping World Stadium which is roughly two hours away from where the Jags currently call home.

Jaguars still planning to play Travis Hunter both ways next season

Among the other questions surrounding the Jags and their future is what the franchise plans to do with second overall pick Travis Hunter. The former Heisman Trophy winner saw time on both sides of the ball but didn't really excel at either before being ruled out with a season-ending knee injury.

With that said, GM James Gladstone still envisions Hunter as a full-time two-way player and he even said as much during last Wednesday's media session.

"We still expect him to play on both sides of the ball," Gladstone revealed (via ESPN.com). "... The steps that he was taking by the midpoint of the season really made us feel good about what the back half of the year was going to be on both sides of the ball and what that impact was going to look like being a feature point on offense and an impact player on defense.

"It [the injury] was just disappointing timing but nonetheless feel good about where we are heading into this offseason and what next year should hold."

There's certainly a lot to like about the Jags moving forward with Liam Coen at the helm. And if Travis Hunter can turn out to be the star many believe he can be, we could have a new AFC South power on our hands.
