Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence on similar trajectory as another AFC South QB

Is Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence the second coming of Matt Ryan, circa 2009?

His stats are similar at the same stage of Ryan's career with the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan is now a backup for the Colts.

Lawrence hasn't exploded onto the scene as many expected him to do coming out of Clemson, but the quarterback statistically is tracking just like you would want a first-round pick to.

Lawrence has been in an unfavorable start since he got to Duval County, with Urban Meyer's disastrous 2021 stint at the helm followed by a 2022 season that's seeing Jacksonville fail to live up to expectations.

The team's 27-20 comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders may hint that Jacksonville is beginning to put it together. However, even if 2022 isn't the year, the team still has a lot to look forward to with Lawrence.

If the quarterback can get a better team around him, it seems like Jacksonville really could factor in to the AFC more down the road. Until then, Jags fans will just have to stay patient and follow the numbers. Lawrence looks like a keeper, even if the 2022 Jaguars are not.
