Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence reveals what it means to chant 'DUUUVAL'
Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Jacksonville Jaguars are the youngest and smallest NFL market in the league. They were started in 1993, but teams who are more new to the NFL, like the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and a few others, already had teams in that market before getting a team back in the market again.

Even being one of the youngest and smallest, they still have one of the coolest traditions. If you are a fan of the Jaguars, or even if you aren't and you happen to know some fans of the Jaguars, you know exactly where I am going with this.

The Jaguars' tradition of chanting "DUUUVAL" is one of the coolest things in the league. Forget the Black Hole in Oakland, the Skol chant in Minnesota, the Terrible Towel, or the Lambeau Leap. If you ask me, the DUUUVAL chant beats them all.

Recently, Trevor Lawrence was asked what the chant means to the players and the city of Jacksonville. He had a powerful message that sums it up great. Here is what Lawrence said on Thursday:

Yeah, when I first got here, I had no idea. Then, obviously, it's the county that we live in. It's something that players and fans, not the only thing we have in common, but it's something that brings everyone together that everyone does. It's part of the city, part of the culture, just part of our fan base, this city, and who we are. I think that's something that no matter who you are, if you see someone in the street and someone yells it, you yell it back and all those things. People do it in the stadium and post-game. I think it just connects the players, the coaches, everyone, the fans, everyone in the city. It's something we can all rally around. Obviously, our team is that as well, but just having something like that everyone knows, everyone is a part of, and everyone that's not in this community doesn't really understand it. I think it makes it kind of cool, too; people are like, 'Why are they doing that?' People that are here know and understand that it means a lot, and it means a lot to this city.

That is part of the whole home-field advantage, too. While analysts think the Jaguars don't have a home-field advantage and think fans don't show up to the game, the DUUUVAL chant still confuses and scares the opposing team's fans.

It clearly is one of the best traditions in the NFL.
