Jaguars vs. Bengals: 5 Pressing Questions on Week 13
USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 8-3 entering Week 13, with a big chance to improve to 9-3 before the final month of the season with a Monday Night Football game slated vs. the Cincinnati Bengals.

To preview this week's big game, we spoke with James Rapien of All Bengals to get their insight on the team the Jaguars are faced to do battle with.

1) What has Jake Browning shown so far in the Bengals' offense?

Rapien: Browning had a few nice throws against the Steelers, but his internal clock didn't match what is needed to be a competent starter in the NFL. It was a tough matchup and he could be better this week, but playing on time has to be a priority for Browning. When he falls behind, he struggles. He doesn't have the arm to make up for it.

Pressuring him early should be a major priority for the Jaguars' defense.

2) How much of a concern is the Bengals' defense entering Week 13?

Rapien: It's a major concern. They give up far too many big plays. If Cincinnati is going to win games without Joe Burrow, they need this defense to limit explosive plays, force turnovers and get off the field. They only gave up 16 points to the Steelers last week, but struggled on third down and only forced one turnover.

3) What kind of impact has Ja'Marr Chase made in 2023?

Rapien: Chase has been the best player on the team. When they get the ball to him, good things happen. He rarely goes down on first contact, is one of the best deep threats in the NFL and can make a game changing play at any moment. Chase was only targeted six times last week. That number should double on Monday night if the Bengals are hoping to upset the Jaguars.

4) Which Jaguar is seen as a player the Bengals must stop to win the game?

Rapien: I'm not sure if there's one. It's the entire offense. Of course, that starts with Trevor Lawrence. They have to keep him in check and not let him find his weapons for big plays. Travis Etienne is also a major problem on the ground. He's a playmaker and this Cincinnati defense has struggled with big plays.

The Jaguars could lean on Evan Engram, especially after the Bengals struggled to guard Pat Freiermuth last week.

5) Score prediction?

Rapien: The Bengals can keep it close. I think they'll have a shot to win in the fourth quarter, but Lawrence and the Jaguars will make a few more plays.

Jaguars win 23-17.
