The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to miss several starters and key players when they take on the Cleveland Browns this afternoon.
Among the Jaguars inactives are:
The Jaguars will also have rookie outside linebacker Yasir Abdullah as a healthy scratch, while third-string quarterback Nathan Rourke is inactive but is officially listed as the team's emergency quarterback.
The Jaguars will turn to second-year cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Gregory Junior and fifth-round defensive back Antonio Johnson to fill in along the secondary. The Jaguars will also be missing starting slot receiver Christian Kirk, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week after having core muscle surgery after getting injured on Monday vs. the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think as players you just have to embrace them and help them through showing them how to study, how to prepare mentally more than anything. A lot of these guys, too, have played," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday.
"So, they know how to play, it’s just a matter of embracing them and again, it’s kind of an all-hands-on-deck type of mentality surrounding whoever it might be, the backup who is playing. The goal is you don’t want to miss a beat, you just keep clipping along. You still got to go out and execute and play at a high level. We have total confidence in all the guys that go out there and dress and play.”
