Jalen Carter delivers stark warning to NFL regarding him and Jordan Davis

There may not be a better dynamic duo in the NFL at defensive tackle than the Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

Over the last two years, Carter has been regarded as one of the best young defensive tackles in the NFL, drawing comparisons to Aaron Donald. Last season, Carter was a Pro Bowler after having 16 quarterback hits, 12 tackles for loss, six pass deflections, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Davis has been a reliable starter who has slowly worked his way up the rankings at defensive tackle. He hasn't missed a game in the last two years and has been more known as a stout run stopper in the middle than for Carter's pass-rushing abilities.

If this season is proving anything, these two are only going to get better, and Carter agrees as he told the media that himself.

“It’s just the beginning. We’re not at our full potential. I don’t think we’re gonna get there until it’s time for us to retire…Right now of what you’re seeing it’s just a snippet of it.”

How good can Carter and Davis be in 2025 and beyond?

The highlight of 2025 for the Eagles has undoubtedly been Davis, who is on pace to have his best season yet. Through four games, he's racked up 17 tackles, three pass deflections (most among NFL defensive tackles), two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, and one field goal block.

Pro Football Focus gave him the 24th-highest grade among 179 qualified interior defensive linemen with an overall grade of 74. PFF has him with the fourth-most stops in the NFL, with nine. There's no doubt that Davis has been arguably the MVP of this Eagles team and is in line to be a Pro Bowler by the end of the season.

As for Carter, it has been a much different story this season. From his spitting incident in Week 1 to his lingering shoulder injury, he has not been as good as he has been over the last two years. Carter only has six tackles, but does have five quarterback hits.

It's too early to write off Carter, as he can still turn things around and have a great season. He's just been overshadowed by Davis' play on the field.

If Carter can get back to being 100% healthy, he and Davis can be the elite duo the Eagles will have for a very long time.
