Jalen Hurts could be used as running back by Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles made one of the more eyebrow-raising picks of the NFL Draft when they took quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round. With Carson Wentz entrenched as the starter, it sounds like the Eagles will explore other ways to get Hurts on the field.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo said he expected the Eagles to utilize Hurts in non-quarterback roles, adding that one Eagles source thinks Hurts could even contribute in the backfield.

“Just in talking to one Eagles source, he said ‘This guy might be able to contribute as a straight running back. That’s how good we think he is. That’s what we think of his skill set,'” Garafolo said on NFL Network Monday.

Hurts has already received a Taysom Hill comparison from Philadelphia’s coaching staff, so this isn’t all surprising. It’s clear that they love him as a player and will find ways to use him. Maybe that will even be out of the backfield. Coach Doug Pederson is one of the more creative NFL minds, so they could make this fun to watch.
