The NFL has set the stage for an electrifying start to the 2025 season, with the Philadelphia Eagles, led by superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts, hosting the Dallas Cowboys in the annual Kickoff Game.

Announced on Monday morning, via the NFL’s official X account, the Week 1 matchup is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, at 8:20 PM ET, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

This primetime clash promises to reignite one of the league’s fiercest rivalries, pitting the defending Super Bowl champions against their NFC East foes.

Jalen Hurts, coming off a stellar 2024 season where he became one of only five quarterbacks in NFL history to record 20+ passing touchdowns and 10+ rushing touchdowns in a single year, will be the centerpiece of the Eagles’ title defense.

The 26-year-old dual-threat quarterback has already cemented his legacy in Philadelphia, and this game offers a chance to raise the Super Bowl banner in front of a raucous home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, are looking to spoil the party, with their storied rivalry dating back to 1960. Historically, Dallas holds a 70-40 edge in the series, but recent matchups have been tightly contested, adding fuel to the fire.

The NFL’s decision to spotlight this matchup underscores the league’s tradition of having the previous season’s Super Bowl winner host the opener.

Fans can expect a high-stakes battle as the Eagles aim to carry their championship momentum into 2025, while the Cowboys seek to make an early statement.

With national attention on this NFC East showdown, the stage is set for an unforgettable kickoff to the new season.
