The Philadelphia Eagles heard all the noise when it came down to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is a franchise that Philly has struggled to play against over the last decade. The Eagles had lost four of the last five against the Buccaneers with the last two matchups being blowouts by double digits.
Everyone knew the Eagles wanted to win this game badly and exact revenge on the Buccaneers after losing to them in the 2023 playoffs and the previous year. Even their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, had this game on the back of his mind.
It's clear to everyone that Hurts did not have the best game against Tampa Bay on Sunday. He completed 15 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, he did not complete a single pass in the second half. He did lead the team in rushing with 62 yards.
As the Eagles have been saying all year, it doesn't matter how ugly it was. They got the job done as they beat the Buccaneers 31-25 to move to 4-0 on the season.
After the game, FOX reporter Tom Rinaldi asked Hurts about the gritty win they got and how they were able to do it. Hurts closed it out by sharing that he's been looking forward to playing this game for a while.
"I'd be lying if I said this game wasn't circled, but every game is circled. They all have their own reasons of why."
In typical Hurts style, he downplayed that comment, saying that he circles all games, but this was a comment not asked about by Rinaldi. Hurts almost wanted people to know how badly he wanted to take down the Buccaneers and silence the doubters who questioned his ability to beat them.
The conversation this week is going to be about the struggles of the offense, but a lot of credit needs to be given to the Eagles for fighting through all the bad stuff and winning another tough game. Hurts sure won't let his second half performance affect him as he will celebrate the win and get back at it this week.
