Jalen Hurts Has Reportedly Gotten The 'Message' In Philly

There was reportedly a lot of "friction" between Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles toward the end of the 2025 season.

ESPN reported on the development.

"Close observers point to a lack of creativity and synergy in the Eagles' attack. The pass game wasn't always properly tied to the run, and there's a level of predictability that allows opposing defenses to get a bead on what's coming. Though there is plenty of blame to spread, Hurts has had a hand in the offense becoming calcified, according to several team sources who spoke to ESPN on condition of anonymity," ESPN reported.

"He has pushed back on changes that would diversify the scheme, sources said, including when it comes to him going under center more. He has shown a reluctance to let it rip at times, particularly against zone coverage. He diverts from the game plan and changes playcalls to what some feel is an excessive degree. His strong preferences, coupled with the coaches' efforts to play to his strengths, which include his deep-ball accuracy and throws to the perimeter, limit the breadth to which the offense can expand -- or at least that's the way it has gone in the past."

Hurts, though, appears to have gotten the message.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles quarterback understands what is needed from him now.

Hurts has received the message in a big way

“He knows this is the last year of his guaranteed money. He knows the cat’s out on some of his baggage. You’ve got to be able to produce. You can’t be near the bottom of the league in passing two years in a row with the amount of talent that we have. It’s not acceptable. . . . And it’s everybody saying it — from [owner] Jeffrey [Lurie] on down. Everybody is on the same page," McLane reported.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio feels similarly.

"In Philly, the expectations remain sky high. The stress remains palpable. The pressure is increasing. The consequences are always lurking," he wrote.

"And the team’s top priority as the 2026 season approaches seems clear. The Eagles want the starting quarterback to understand that he isn’t immune from the possibility of being replaced."

The Eagles will need Hurts to live up to expectations in 2026.
