Jalen Hurts jersey now in NFL Hall of Fame

Jalen Hurts couldn’t win the Super Bowl and lost out on MVP, but thanks to his 2022 heroics, he already has a spot in the NFL Hall of Fame — or at least his jersey does.

Hurts had 35 touchdowns and 14 wins with the Eagles last season, but a late-season victory against the Giants is what got Canton’s attention. On Dec. 11, Hurts threw two touchdowns and ran for another in a 48-22 road victory at MetLife Stadium. His rushing score proved to be historic and the reason why his uniform got the call.

The rushing touchdown was his 10th of the season, making him the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 10 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons. Hurts had 10 rushing scores in 2021 and finished with 13 last season.

Cam Newton rushed for 10 or more scores three times in his 11-year career but never in consecutive seasons. Hurts has done it twice in three seasons, and now his pants and jersey both hang in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Philadelphia knows a little bit about running quarterbacks. Randall Cunningham rushed for 4,482 yards and 32 touchdowns in 10 years with Philadelphia. Michael Vick spent most of his career with Atlanta but had 15 rushing scores as an Eagle, nine of them in the 2010 season alone.

Cunningham and Vick may never make it to the NFL Hall of Fame, but Hurts should be proud that in just three seasons (two as the starter) he’s already done something worthy of the Hall.
