Jalen Hurts once again faces tiring criticism after latest QB rankings

At this point, it's become a given that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is going to be in the middle of a polarizing debate on whether he is elite or not. And it isn't because of him. It's because people love to talk about it.

The Athletic conducted a similar survey to ESPN, speaking with over 50 NFL coaches and executives to rank the quarterbacks in the league and determine which tiers they fall under. Hurts was tied for ninth in the rankings and was part of Tier 2.

"Hurts has the lowest average tier vote for any quarterback coming off a Super Bowl victory since Eagles alum Nick Foles won as a backup after the 2017 season.

This speaks to the Eagles' ability to assemble top-notch rosters around their quarterbacks. Hurts also might be underrated."

One NFL general manager shared his thoughts on not believing he should be in Tier 2.

"This is going to sound like I don't like him, but I do," a GM said. "Just by the definition, I feel he is more of a 3. Am I on an island with that?"

Another NFL defensive coordinator disagreed with that assessment.

"They tried to throw it more early in the year," a defensive coordinator said. "He could not do that, so they said, 'Screw it, run the ball 40 times a game.' I still gave Hurts a 2. He is a winner, and he can do it sometimes."

Where should Jalen Hurts be ranked...or do we even care anymore?

The debates are getting overdone with where Hurts should be ranked. Everyone has their own opinions and no one is going to agree on it.

What does Hurts' resume say? He's a Super Bowl champion (with two appearances in the game), a Super Bowl MVP, a two-time Pro Bowler, and an AP second-team All-Pro. That's good in some people's minds, while others don't care.

All Eagles fans care about is whether he can win. Hurts has a 46-20 record as a starter in the regular season with a 6-3 record in the postseason. That's all that Philadelphia cares about.

Year after year, Hurts has improved as a passer and makes excellent decisions. He has shown off his athletic ability and is a great short-yard runner with the Tush Push.

People can criticize him all they want, but Hurts is a winner. That's all that matters.
