Jalen Hurts Paid For Funeral Of High School Football Player

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has shown tremendous leadership skills, this time with a selfless act off the field.

This past weekend, Hurts paid for the funeral of a Texas high school football player, Jarvon Coles.

Coles, a North Shore High School football player, passed away over the weekend after being found unresponsive at a party with a gunshot wound in his chest, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The 18-year-old was a two-time first-team all-district linebacker for North Shore, and according to his grandfather and guardian, Braxton Coles, the teenager also had a 4.1 GPA. Two shooters are believed to have shot at the house party from about a block away from the Airbnb and fled the scene after striking Coles.

Upon hearing the tragic news, Hurts, a former Texas high school football player at Channelview (a team nearby Coles'), offered to pay for the young man's funeral. Coles planned to play college football at Lamar after a successful high school career, which featured him playing outside linebacker for the nationally ranked Mustangs. His team finished as the UIL 6A Division I state runners-up this past December.

Regardless of how you feel toward the Eagles or what you think of Hurts as a player, it's impossible to deny his impact on communities and the selflessness of this act, which he has not publicly acknowledged for credit.

Hopefully, Hurts' contributions helped ease the financial stresses of a funeral while Coles' loved ones grieve during this tragedy.
