Milroe made it back to the sideline after the throw and was met with a stern look by Saban. The quarterback was unsure what the look meant in the midst of the excitement after the play.
“I walk to the sideline, and Coach Saban, he gave me this stern look, like just looking at me. He was like, ‘What was that?'” Milroe said on the “Closed on Sundays” podcast. “I just started pointing. I had no words because I’m still like, ‘Dang, we just won. Like, we just scored.’ I don’t know what to say. This man just stared at me in my soul. He said, ‘I could have done that,’ and he said, ‘Good job.’ And that was my funniest moment, but I ain’t gonna lie cause like, as crazy as that moment was, this man was like, ‘I could have done that,’ and just shook my hand and just smiled.”
Milroe went on to lead Alabama to a win over Georgia in the SEC Championship and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
