Jalen Milroe Is Shocking the NFL World During 2025 Training Camp
- Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe (4) throws the ball as Auburn Tigers take on Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Auburn Tigers 28-14.

Jalen Milroe, man, that’s the name everyone is whispering around Seahawks camp right now. It’s wild how fast the hype is building. Just last year, the guy was riding the pine at Alabama. Now he’s Seattle’s wildcard QB project with fans and beat reporters buzzing.

Athleticism & Upside!

Dual-threat chaos. People love to toss out those “Lamar Jackson meets Hurts” comps. It is honestly, not nuts especially with Hurts being a Bama QB too. Milroe’s got jets for legs, the dude’s ripped, and he can sling it when he sets his feet.

Camp’s been full of highlight moments where he just takes off and defenders are left grabbing air. Still rough around the edges; he’s raw, no doubt. Sometimes it looks like he’s making it up as he goes, and his reads can be iffy. Arm talent? No question. But the consistency—eh, not quite there yet.

Camp Vibes!

Turning heads already. He’s making some “whoa, did you see that?” throws in minicamp, and you can tell the other QBs are peeking over their shoulders just a tad. Vibes guy: Coaches, rookies, whoever everyone’s talking about his energy, his confidence, and how he lights up the huddle. Hard not to root for a dude who acts like he belongs, even when he’s learning on the fly.

The Plan (Or Lack Thereof)!

The Seahawks nabbed him at pick 92, which, let’s be real, is where you take swings. He’s not expected to start Week 1. Sam Darnold’s got that gig locked for now. Taysom Hill 2.0?: OC Klint Kubiak’s already scheming up special packages, maybe six or seven snaps a game, mostly goal-line and short-yardage stuff. Basically, throw him in there, let him cause some chaos, and see what happens.

Taking it slow: No one is pushing him into the deep end. Darnold’s taking the most snaps, but Milroe going to get his little taste. With his kind of Swiss Army knife style, just to see how weird things can get.

Ceiling Talk!

Dynasty dart throw:  Fantasy nerds are drooling over Milroe’s upside here. Sure, he’s a stash, not a starter (yet), but if things click, he could be a steal for keeper leagues.

Needs polish: The Word is, that the mechanics—especially his feet—still need some major TLC. That’s normal for a rookie, but it’s gonna decide if he’s just a gadget guy or something way bigger. Boom or bust: He’s got that Fields/Jackson/Hurts gamble to him. If he figures out how to read NFL defenses under pressure, look out. If not, we’ve all seen athletic QBs flame out before.

Rookie Year Reality!

Gadget role is incoming: Watch for Jalen Milroe in the red zone, on sneaky bootlegs, and maybe a wildcat play or two. The Seahawks want some juice, and Milroe for sure got it. Work behind the scenes: He’s grinding in practice, getting props for the way he carries himself, and supposedly soaking everything up. That is what you want from a developmental QB.

Shot at starting?  Some fantasy folks are already stashing him just in case. Plus when have you heard of a QB being drafted from the third round from a big school and getting in a surprising QB battle with an established QB from the NFC North coming into Seattle with hype, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Final Take!

Look, Milroe’s a total wildcard. He’s not polished, but the upside is real he’s got that electric, “what just happened” energy coaches dream about. The Seahawks are playing it smart, letting him cook in low-pressure spots, kind of like how the Ravens handled Lamar Jackson early on. If he sharpens those passing chops, he might just be the guy in 2026. But if he doesn’t? Still, at least he’ll make Sundays a heck of a lot more interesting.
