Jalen Ramsey: Deshaun Watson 'extremely serious' about not playing for Texans

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has seemingly told anybody who will listen, including new head coach David Culley, that he won't play another down for the club.

It appears one can add Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey to that growing list.

Ramsey, who, like Watson, is represented by agent David Mulugheta, told the "Huddle & Flow" podcast that he doesn't see the signal-caller changing his mind.

"Extremely serious, he's extremely serious," Ramsey said of Watson's trade demand, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's official website. "At the end of the day, Deshaun is a great man. A servant leader. Even now when people are trying to crucify him and talk bad on his name, he's still out there doing things for the community in Houston. So he's a great man. He's a professional. He's going to still do things that are positive in the community and probably still help his teammates out.

"But I highly doubt he'll ever suit up in a Texans uniform again. He's very serious. I will say he's very serious. This is his legacy here, I mean, he should be serious."

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported last week that the Texans are "unwilling" to even discuss potential trades for the 25-year-old quarterback who is signed through 2025. The 2021 NFL Draft doesn't open until April 29, so Houston theoretically still has over a month to repair what appears, on the surface, to be a doomed marriage between player and franchise before losing out on potential assets.
