Rams All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is one of the best at his position, but even he knows there are a few receivers that make life on the gridiron difficult for him.

Ramsey has long been known for his trash talk, as well as his skill set, which is a big part of what makes him great. Similar to some other legendary defensive backs that have played in the NFL, Ramsey knows how to get in his opponents’ heads and leverage mental edge.

He can track speedy receivers downfield, and really excels playing opposing receivers physical. The more he can get away with from a contact standpoint, the more effective he is. And Ramsey really does a good job of making “just enough” contact to disrupt receivers’ timing, but also get away with it, as he’s rarely flagged for penalties.

The Rams cornerback has gone on record in the past as saying DeAndre Hopkins, in his eyes, is the toughest cover in the league. There are some other guys that are difficult to match up against as well, apparently. Ramsey recently named a few players — Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones, Amari Cooper and Allen Robinson among them — during a recent appearance on the “Serendipity Podcast.

Ramsey also shared some advice for his younger self.

“What I would tell that Jalen is, ‘Yes you can take advice from people here and there,” Ramsey said, as transcribed by Rams Wire. “That’s cool, especially if they’ve been in your shoes, if they’ve been where you’re trying to go. But at the end of the day, embrace your journey. Whatever that may be because your journey is definitely going to be different than somebody else’s. The way you go through situations is going to be different than how somebody else may have went through situations. The way you may perceive being a pro will be different than how somebody else perceives being a pro. … Be authentic to yourself.”

Naming Robinson, but not Mike Evans or Calvin Ridley, is an interesting choice, but we’ll trust Ramsey’s judgement.
