The Miami Dolphins and defensive back Jalen Ramsey are likely to part ways. The only real question is when exactly will that happen, as a trade of the veteran cornerback somewhere else continues to feel imminent.

The Dolphins have not hit their desire to trade Ramsey.

“Really after a couple weeks of discussions between ourselves internally and Jalen and his representation, we decided that it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward,” Miami general manager Chris Grier said back in April (h/t Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN).

Nearly two months since that statement from Grier, the 30-year-old Ramsey remains with the Dolphins.

Sean McVay sounds off on possible Jalen Ramsey reunion

The Los Angeles Rams are among the teams being linked to Ramsey. After all, there is familiarity between the two sides, as Ramsey played for four years with the Rams, even winning a Super Bowl with them in 2022.

Rams head coach Sean McVay has spoken before about the door being open for a potential reunion with Ramsey via a trade. He reiterated that notion amid LA’s OTAs.

Via Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire:

Sean McVay was asked for an update on the Rams’ potential pursuit of Ramsey after practice on Wednesday and it sounds like discussions have cooled off as of late. While the Rams would “never close out those opportunities,” they also haven’t had much dialogue with the Dolphins recently.

“I would say this: There really hasn’t been any meaningful, tangible dialogue as of late but that can always change pretty quickly as you know,” he said.

Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowler, had two interceptions and 11 passes defended to go with 60 combined tackles in 17 games with the Dolphins in the 2024 NFL season.
