Ja’Marr Chase: I’m going to break every record the Bengals have

The Cincinnati Bengals have had several solid wide receivers over the years, but former LSU standout Ja'Marr Chase plans to leave them in the dust.

Chase, who the Bengals selected fifth overall on Thursday night, said his plan is to be the best receiver Cincinnati has ever had.

"I'm going to break every record they've got. That's my goal right there. I'm telling you right now," Chase said, per the team's website. "I don't know how I'm going to do it, but it's going to get done."

Chase added that he wants to put up 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns next season to hopefully win Rookie of the Year.

It won't be easy for the LSU product to set new receiving records in Cincinnati, though. Chad Johnson holds franchise records with 751 catches, 10,783 receiving yards, and 66 receiving touchdowns. He spent 10 seasons with the Bengals.

If Chase spends his entire career with the Bengals, it's possible he'll reach those numbers, but only time will tell. The 21-year-old was seen as the best wide receiver in the draft after catching 107 passes for 2,093 yards and 23 touchdowns in two seasons at LSU.
