Ja'Marr Chase, Micah Parsons win NFL Rookie of the Year awards

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons are the NFL's Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, the league announced Thursday night.

Chase, 21, is set to play in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday after finishing the regular season with 81 receptions, 1,455 receiving yards, and 13 touchdown receptions. In the playoffs, Chase has added another 20 receptions, 279 yards, and a touchdown. He's the first Bengals player to win the award since wide receiver Carl Pickens did so in 1992.

Parsons, 22, finished his rookie year with 13 sacks, the third most a rookie has ever recorded. The only two players to ever record more sacks as a rookie were Jevon Kearse (14.5) and Aldon Smith (14). Parsons earned the award with a unanimous vote.

Chase was the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and Parsons was selected seven spots later at 12th overall.
