Jameis Winston throws his hat in the ring for Titans veteran QB job at the Super Bowl, but the feeling probably is not mutual

Veteran quarterback and former first overall pick Jameis Winston is an unrestricted free agent this offseason looking to sign with his fourth NFL team.

Winston’s name has been brought up amongst football fans and media members as a potential bridge QB option for the Tennessee Titans in 2025. That could be with or without a young rookie in waiting.

During Super Bowl media week, Winston is doing his best to keep that story circulating. Jameis threw his hat in the ring for the Titans’ QB job, telling The Sick Podcast that he would “love to go to Nashville.”

For some reason, this clip has started to go semi-viral, particularly amongst Titans fans. Winston tells you all you need to know at the end of his statement. He would be happy to go anywhere. He would love be anywhere as long as he gets to play. Nobody is knocking down Winston’s door at this stage in his career trying to sign him.

At 31 years old, Winston threw 12 interceptions last season in 12 starts for the the Cleveland Browns. It got to the point where the Browns benched Winston in favor of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who has throws one touchdown and a jarring 10 interceptions in 230 NFL pass attempts.

I would be shocked if there is a team out there willing to make Winston it’s starting quarterback for 2025. He seems to be a good locker room leader, so maybe you could sign him as a veteran backup, but you're tanking the 2025 season before it starts if Winston is your QB1.

Given what we know about what the Titans value at the quarterback position, I can’t think of a worse fit than Winston. The biggest take away for Tennessee’s offense from year one of Brian Callahan is that they need to limit turnovers more. Will Levis did not protect the football enough and it cost the team some important games, particularly early in the season. I’m expecting the Titans to replace Levis this year because of his turnover worthy plays. It would make no sense for them to replace him with somebody like Winston, who is worse and more turnover prone.

I’m glad Jameis is willing to have fun with this whole thing. He created a lot of viral content during Super Bowl media week talking about his next home. But comments like these are not to be taken seriously by Titans fans or the NFL world .
