James Cook Looking Forward To Buffalo Bills Season Despite Contract Situation
Imagn Images

James Cook has been a full participant at the Buffalo Bills training camp, despite the ongoing desire for a new contract extension. Although he is getting ready for the season, Cook is still adamant that he’s going to get the contract he wants, whether it’s in Buffalo or somewhere else. When asked if he was confident that an extension would get done in Buffalo, Cook said, “I mean, however it happens, it’s gonna get done. Wherever it happens.”

James Cook Seems Like He Will Not Budge

This situation seems like it’ll play out in one of two ways. Either the Bills do not give Cook what he’s looking for and he leaves, or they get a deal done and he stays. Cook has reportedly come out publicly and said that he would like to make $15 million per season. With how things are sounding, the two sides have a good relationship and have had good conversations about a deal, but haven’t been able to agree.

The good thing about this for the Bills, and most importantly for both sides, is the fact that James Cook isn’t holding out for a new deal. He has reported to training camp and is ready for the season. Unlike Terry McLaurin and the Commanders, Cook is handling this professionally while also communicating his desire for a new deal. That is an admirable way to go about it.

The Buffalo Bills Should Want To Get This Done

James Cook has put up phenomenal production in the last two seasons. He put up back-to-back 1,000 rushing yard seasons and 18 combined touchdowns in those two years. $15 million per season is a bunch to a running back, but if Cook continues that into this season, then he deserves every penny.

If the Buffalo Bills want to stay a competitive team, paying James Cook would be wise. He’s too valuable to the team and a member of the core to let go over a disagreement over money.
