Jamin Davis legal saga continues after new plea deal gets rejected

Washington Commanders linebacker Jamin Davis was back in court for the second time this week, looking to appeal a reckless driving conviction in Loudoun County, Virginia. Yet, for the second time in four days, a judge rejected a plea agreement by Davis.

Jamin Davis agreed to a revised plea deal with the commonwealth on Thursday. However, Judge James E. Plowman Jr. didn’t consider the agreement because it “wasn’t substantially and materially different” from Monday’s plea, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

A new hearing has been scheduled for August 31st.

Monday, Judge Stephen E. Sincavage rejected Davis’ initial plea agreement.

In Thursday’s rejected plea agreement, Davis would have a minimum of four days served in jail with a max of eight days; six months mandatory suspended license; supervised probation of 12 months or longer; a maximum fine of $2,500; and 114 hours of community service, another driving course, and an essay on reckless driving.

Davis’ attorney Jeffrey Mangeno called Thursday’s rejected plea agreement “unfortunate.”

“We haven’t had a new discussion to make any new counterproposal,” Mangeno said, per Nicki Jhabvala. “It’s unfortunate the was not resolved today in its entirety. We will continue to work the matter.”

The reckless driving conviction is punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a maximum $2500 fine.

Police cited Davis for driving 114 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone on Loudoun County Parkway in March 2022. Davis had another citation just over two months before the latest for driving 84 mph in a 65-mph zone.
