Jaquan Brisker wasted no time making plays for the Bears' defense against Caleb Williams after returning back to the field in OTAs

The Chicago Bears got a major locker room boost during the start of organized team activities when safety Jaquan Brisker announced he would be back in action.

The former second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft missed the final 12 games of the 2024 season due to a concussion, his third such injury in three seasons.

Losing Brisker in the secondary was a major blow for the entire unit and having him back on the field is already bringing up the morale for the unit.

"I think just that whole ordeal last year with him and the concussion, from a player and a brother, looking at him seeing what he went through. I know that was tough for him," veteran safety Kevin Byard said last week. "He's excited. I'm excited to be able to get him back out there. I know he has a lot of plays that he wants to go out there and make this year, and I'm excited to watch him do it.”

Well, it didn't take long for Brisker to start making plays and bringing the energy. The fourth-year safety was back on the field for OTAs and even came away with an interception on quarterback Caleb Williams after the ball was initially tipped.

Here's the play in action:

After making the play, you can see the spark it provided to the other defensive players, that's what Brisker brings to the table for this defense.

“Brisker brings a lot of energy on the field, off the field—he’s just an energetic guy," defensive end Montez Sweat explained. "You kind of hear him in any area he’s at.”

Staying on the field has always been the issue, however. Since being drafted, Brisker has missed 16 total games in three years. Going into the final year of his rookie deal, proving he can stay healthy and put the concussion issues behind him will be key if he wants to land an extension in Chicago.

The Bears' front office has already rewarded his fellow 2022 second-round draftee in Kyler Gordon this offseason with an extension. And with some long-term concerns at the position, proving he can be relied upon in 2025 will be something to watch.

For the time being, it's great to see Brisker back out there doing what he does best.
