Jared Goff Drops Truth Bomb on Detroit Lions’ Playoff Win vs. Los Angeles Rams
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

Jared Goff was one of the biggest storylines when the Detroit Lions faced the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 NFC Wild Card. His connections with the organization that drafted him first overall in the 2016 Draft added weight to a match that is already full of drama and narratives.

After the Lions beat a resilient Rams squad, it would have been fair for some to think that Goff finally felt vindicated for the trade that sent him off to a rebuilding effort in Detroit.

However, fans will be surprised to learn that the man himself doesn’t think much about any sort of bad blood that may or may not exist between him and the Rams.

Jared Goff dismisses any persona vendetta after Detroit Lions win vs LA Rams

Goff was asked in an interview with Complex about his feelings about the team that he went to the Super Bowl with after beating them with his current team.

Sports Illustrated’s Jonathan Alfano revealed that while he was glad to have won it with the team, he didn’t have any underlying intentions with his approach to this game:

“I’ve talked about that so much recently and I really think the thing that still rings true is how much more important it was getting a win for our team and our city,” Goff said. “It was the first playoff win in so long and a home playoff game, the energy in that building was incredible.

“Obviously there were some personal connections for me, but it was never about me getting revenge or vindication or anything like that. It was about getting a win for our team and playing as best I can. There were some emotions that I had to deal with, but it was easy once I focused on what really mattered.”

Goff was especially productive for the Detroit Lions last season, passing for 4575 yards and 30 touchdowns while only giving away the ball 12 times.

He will be a key play for a Lions squad that is still undergoing changes to improve their Super Bowl chances. Dan Campbell will be counting on him to keep his performances up in 2024 the same way he did against his former team.
