The Detroit Lions bounced back from a miserable Week 1 performance with a blowout win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and Jared Goff has an impressive new spot in the NFL record books following the offensive outburst.
Goff completed 23-of-28 passes for 334 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions as the Lions beat the Bears 52-21. The Lions scored seven total touchdowns after finding the end zone just once in their 27-13 season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The start was the fifth for Goff in his career where his team scored 50 or more points. As ESPN's Adam Schefter notes, Goff is now tied with Peyton Manning for the fourth-most starts with 50 or more points since 1950. The only quarterbacks ahead of Goff and Manning are Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Len Dawson.
Jared Goff now has five NFL starts in which his team scored at least 50 points, tied with Peyton Manning (five) for the fourth-most such starts by a quarterback since 1950, and trailing only Tom Brady (eight starts), Drew Brees (six) and Len Dawson (six).

Ben Johnson made a name for himself as the offensive coordinator in Detroit before he became the head coach of the Bears this season. After Goff and company struggled in Week 1, a lot of people wondered if the Lions will be in trouble without Johnson.
New Lions offensive coordinator John Morton put a lot of those concerns to rest on Sunday. Detroit had 511 yards of total offense, and the Bears had no answers for its passing attack. Johnson was hoping to make a statement against his former team, but his former team made the statement instead.
The Lions will face a much tougher test in Week 3, when they travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens on "Monday Night Football."
