After entering Sunday on a franchise-record 11-game winning streak, the Detroit Lions met their match in the Buffalo Bills, falling 48-42 to MVP candidate Josh Allen and company at Ford Field.
The potential Super Bowl preview was an offensive firework show as the teams combined for 96 points, 58 first downs and 1,080 total yards of offense. Lions quarterback Jared Goff outperformed Allen, too — at least on the stat sheet.
Goff finished the game completing 38-of-59 attempts for 494 yards and five touchdowns, all to different Detroit pass-catchers.
Despite his Herculean efforts, Goff found himself on the wrong end of NFL history Sunday as the Lions dropped into a tie with the Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC standings at 12-2.
According to NFL on CBS, Goff became "the first player in NFL history to throw for 400+ yards, 5+ pass TD and 0 INT in a LOSS."
The 30-year-old Pro Bowler is now up to 30 touchdowns this season, tying his mark from a year ago. He'll have a very strong chance to top his current career high (32 in 2018) as the Lions have yet to lock up the No. 1 playoff seed with three regular season games to go.

Next up for Goff and the Lions are consecutive road games against the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers before closing out the season versus the Minnesota Vikings.
