Jared Goff Takes Jab From Former Coach

Becoming a star franchise quarterback in the NFL has to be one of the most thankless jobs in the world. Jared Goff has gone through a lot from his time with the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions. However, some of his struggles still have not been patched up and Ben Johnson took notice.

On a live episode of Pro Football Talk at the NFL Combine, the ex-Lions coach had something to say about the former Rams quarterback. He even hammered the point further by comparing Jared Goff's passing skills to Penei Sewell.

"The best part of that was he threw a dime every single time in practice. It was better than some other people," Johnson said before vaguely sounding out 'Jared Goff'.

Notably, Goff and Johnson had to work with each other from 2021 up to 2024. The latter was a passing game coordinator when the signal-caller first joined the Lions. Johnson would then go on to become their offensive coordinator before he got offered the head coaching position by the Chicago Bears.

Throughout his time alongside the former Rams quarterback, he was named the Assistant Coach of the Year once.

Obviously, this jab could just be made in good fun and competition. After all, the Lions and Bears will be duking it out for the NFC North title when the season commences. It could just be Johnson's way of playing mind games with Goff and Dan Campbell before the true competition starts.

All of this sounds like their face-off during the fall could be heated.
