Jacksonville Jaguars rookie cornerback Jarrian Jones suffered an injury during the Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills. On the broadcast, sideline reporter Laura Rutledge said Jones was sent to the locker room after suffering the injury in the first quarter. The Jaguars then announced that the former Florida State star is questionable to return due to an injured shoulder.

Jones was selected by the Jaguars in the third round of this year’s draft. In his first two games, the 23-year-old has notched four tackles. Before the Monday night game, Jones talked about how he was looking forward to facing Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman since the two played together at Florida State.

“He has a good understanding of how to run routes and overall spacing, where he’s supposed to be, how to manipulate his routes, how to get open,” Jones said, per the Florida Times-Union. “He has great ball skills and great ability overall.”

Jones is confident he can make an impact on the Jaguars defense. During training camp, the Mississippi native revealed that the earlier practices were about learning and adapting.

Jarrian Jones talks about adapting to the NFL level of play

“I’m learning a lot about myself, and some of the bad habits I had in college,” he said, per the Jaguars’ official website. “The quarterbacks in this league are different than they were in college. Looking back at the quarterback after you’ve broken on the ball, those are some bad habits. The quarterbacks are actually putting the ball on the money now. I’m staying true to myself, sticking to what I’ve put the work in to be.”

Jones added: “It’s going to come with growing pains. You come into a new situation, you play defensive back, somebody’s probably going to catch a ball on you here and there. As long as you continue to learn from it, grow from it, come back and make your plays … my future is definitely turning up. As long as I just keep the work going every day, it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.”
