Jason Kelce made the trip to Kansas City for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast of the primetime matchup between Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs and the Washington Commanders. It was the Chiefs who secured a big win in the contest, 28-7, with Travis Kelce helping lead the charge. The 10-time Pro Bowl tight end registered six catches for a game-high 99 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Jason Kelce also took advantage of his trip to KC by dropping by his brother’s new restaurant with teammate Patrick Mahomes, 1587 Prime. The two Chiefs stars opened the high-end steakhouse in September, but it wasn’t until Sunday night that Jason Kelce got to sample the goods.
Jason Kelce shared his honest opinion of his younger brother’s big move away from the football field. The former Philadelphia Eagles star dined at the steakhouse with their father, Ed Kelce, and it is clear from his comments that they had a memorable time there.
"It's fantastic," Jason Kelce said on Wednesday's episode of their "New Heights" podcast. "It's a high-end, very well-done steakhouse. I did think it was interesting; there's a lot more creativity to it.”
Jason Kelce also enjoyed the food offerings. The Super Bowl-winning center revealed that he ordered, among other things, "The Big Red" or the Andy Reid burger, a cheesesteak and the meatballs with picada, which he described as "fantastic."
Jason Kelce also sampled the alcoholic beverages of 1587 Prime. He got himself a “Big Yeti” and an “Alchemy,” cocktails named after Travis Kelce and his future wife, Taylor Swift. The 37-year-old also ordered Garage Beer, a light beer company he co-owns with Travis Kelce.
The Eagles legend then went on to describe how he believes his brother was able to stamp his identity on the premier food spot.
"I think the most Travis Kelce thing is it has a lot of regular food done at an upscale level," Jason Kelce declared. "I always make fun of Travis a little bit for like, chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese.
“Trav, for a long time, ate like a child. And now, we're at a steakhouse and there are some childlike items that are done at like a really high level."
Travis Kelce nodded with approval and expressed his appreciation to his older brother for his rave review. The Chiefs star also sent out a public invite for fans and friends to try out his new restaurant. This prompted an important reminder from the elder Kelce.
"Highly recommend getting your reservation in advance because it's not easy to get into, folks," Jason Kelce said.
1587 Prime, which Travis Kelce and Mahomes opened in partnership with the renowned hospitality group Noble 33, is located at the Loews Kansas City Hotel, 1500 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, MO.
