Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings declined a trade to the San Francisco 49ers, telling ESPN he chose to remain in Minnesota because "I love where I'm at."
Jennings, 29, signed with the Vikings in June on a one-year, $8 million contract. He will miss Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills after straining his calf in practice. He also missed Week 2 while grieving a family member’s death.
In six games this season, Jennings has six receptions for 54 yards on 10 targets across 145 routes run — his lowest totals through eight weeks of a season since his part-time role with the 49ers in 2021. The Vikings have prioritized Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and tight end T.J. Hockenson in the passing game.
Jennings spoke directly with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan during trade discussions. Shanahan said Jennings “likes where he’s at” and agreed with his decision. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said he and Jennings developed “a strong relationship” and handled the situation “the right way.”
As of Saturday, the Vikings had not named Jennings’ replacement at the No. 3 receiver spot for Monday’s game. Veteran Odell Beckham Jr., recently added to the practice squad, began taking snaps at Jennings’ “F” position this week but remains unconfirmed for activation.
