Javonte Williams Dynasty Outlook

Expectations for Javonte Williams were sky-high after the Denver Broncos selected him in the early second round of the 2021 NFL draft. After losing dynasty value every season, Denver let Williams walk in free agency. This led to him signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Has this affected his dynasty trajectory? Let’s dive into Williams’ dynasty outlook.

Javonte Williams Dynasty Outlook

Historical Fantasy Production

Williams was an RB2 in 2021,  finishing his rookie season scoring 12.1 points per game. However, given the draft capital that Denver gave Williams (3rd pick in the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL draft) and the rookie picks that dynasty managers used to select him, this season failed to meet expectations. Following that, a season-ending injury shortened his 2022 season to only 4 games. When Williams returned to the field in 2023, he only managed 11.2 points per game. Last season, he scored 9.3 points per game, meaning his rookie year is his best season to date.

Javonte Williams Dynasty Value

Undoubtedly, a decline in production every healthy season for a running back hitting free agency for the first time is going to equate to minimal dynasty value. Williams’ RB48 ranking on Keep Trade Cut shows that he is no exception to this. His value received a bump when he signed with Dallas, but promptly went back down when Dallas signed running back Miles Sanders 4 days later. As a result, Williams’ value is roughly equal to that of a mid-third in the 2025 rookie draft. While this is considerably lower than his value a couple of years ago, it means in most leagues, he is still dynasty relevant. Despite the poor performance during his time with the Broncos, Williams brings value to dynasty rosters in 2025.

Actions To Take For Javonte Williams

Without a doubt, Williams could be on a practice squad to start the 2026 season. Williams’ value floor is scary. However, for dynasty managers who can afford to take some risk, Williams has the potential to gain significant value in a short amount of time. For the price of a third-round rookie pick in any year, buy Javonte Williams now!

The justification for this move is opportunity. The consensus feeling is that the Miles Sanders addition provides more competition in the Dallas backfield. On one hand, this is a negative because competition means less workload for Williams. On the other hand, Williams was never going to be the only running back used by Dallas, and this move may signal that the Cowboys have completed their running back room for 2025. If this is the case, Williams’ biggest competition, a rookie running back with strong draft capital, becomes a non-issue.

Nobody knows what the Cowboys are going to do on draft day, but if they pass on running back, Williams’ dynasty value will immediately rise as he will be the clear favorite to lead the Dallas backfield this season. Adding Williams is certainly a roll of the dice, however, it is a risk some managers should be willing to take.
