Javonte Williams should lead the way against the Broncos tomorrow

After spending the first four years of his career with the Broncos, Javonte Williams is having a career resurgence with the Cowboys. Through seven games, he has 592 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. He’s also averaging 5.3 yards per attempt and leads the league with 30 first-down conversions.

It is so nice to be able to talk well about the running game again, and if the Cowboys’ offense is going to do anything on the road tomorrow against the very good Broncos’ defense, it is going to start with the running back.

The Dallas offense normally takes a step back on the road, but you are going to have to test this front seven and make them pick one or the other.

Stop Williams or the best wide receiver duo in football, and with Patrick Surtain, I think they are going to let Williams have a favorable box.

Revenge Time

Williams spent the first four seasons of his NFL career as a Bronco, after the team selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of North Carolina. In his rookie season, he would go for over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns. In year two, he suffered a knee injury with tears to his ACL, LCL and PLC.

Now, he is on his way to his best year ever with the Cowboys, and with them sitting at 3-3-1, they need a win to not only help them, but prove to everyone who thinks that they are just a fun and frisky team, that they can compete with the best.

Williams should be the key to this offense tomorrow, and don’t get away from it if it gets shut down from time to time.

The other reason why I think the Cowboys could and should be able to run football is the state below.

Dak Prescott has an NFL-high 81 total QBR this season, the best by any QB in the first 7 games of season since Matthew Stafford in 2021; the Broncos’ defense has allowed a 45 Total QBR this season, the lowest in NFL, per ESPN Research.

That is the stat: who is going to win this battle, and with the game being in Denver, I feel like the Cowboys’ offense should come away with points on every single drive if they hit the 50-yard line.

I trust this offense more than I ever have with Dak Prescott under center, even the year in 2023, but the defense is just so bad that it makes me stay level-headed.

I still think behind Dak and Williams and the rest of the crew, the Cowboys win the biggest game of the year, 31, 28.
