Jaxson Dart addresses Abdul Carter, Donald Trump controversy

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and pass-rusher Abdul Carter made headlines this past spring when Carter seemed to react negatively online to a video showing Dart introducing President Donald Trump at an event in New York.  

Carter later revealed that he and Dart spoke "as men" and were "good." During a Wednesday appearance on New York sports radio station WFAN, Dart was asked about his relationship with Carter and about the potential controversy that could have impacted the Giants' first season under head coach John Harbaugh.

"As a team, I know that we’ve all moved past it," Dart said. "I know from a relationship standpoint with me and Abdul, Abdul’s my brother. We talk all of the time. We sit by each other in every single meeting. We warm up next to each other before practices and in games, and we’re just constantly interacting with each other."

Following Carter's social-media activities, a report noted that "Dart addressed teammates...to discuss his introduction of President Donald Trump" at the event in New York. As Grant Gordon of the NFL's website shared on May 29, both Dart and Carter insisted during springtime workouts that there were no issues between the two. 

"I know Jaxson is a good dude," Carter said at the time. Carter added that "it's just a disagreement, and we can talk about it as men, which we did, and move forward from it." 

It sounds like Dart, Carter and the Giants have done just that.

"I think that when you have a group of guys who are so open and honest with each other, it’s been really cool to see all of us grow with one another. And I think that’s been really special to see, just the relationships that we’ve built, the brotherhood that we’ve built, and I’m really proud of this team. I’m proud of the guys, the way that we've bought into the culture that Coach [Harbaugh] has brought in here," Dart continued.

Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Dart is now part of a Giants "leadership group as voted by the players." That seemingly says plenty about how the signal-caller is viewed by his teammates following the Trump-related matter.
