The New York Giants continue navigating a difficult stretch of their 2025 season as they work to stabilize an offense that has struggled without rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. The first-round pick, taken 25th overall, has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Without him, the offense lacked its usual mobility and explosiveness, and that was evident in last week’s defeat to the Green Bay Packers. Veteran Jameis Winston stepped in but finished with 201 yards on 19-of-29 passing, threw one interception and failed to record a passing touchdown in the 27-20 loss.
With New York still searching for answers in the second half of the season, their young quarterback’s return to action and what that could mean for the team moving forward has been a major talking point.
Now, according to North Jersey’s Art Stapleton , Dart is expected to be back at practice on Wednesday, with the expectation he will play against the Detroit Lions in Week 12.
“The expectation is that the 22-year-old rookie will practice Wednesday and continue his progression in the latter stages of concussion protocol,” Stapleton wrote. “If all continues to go well, Dart would be in line to meet with the independent neurological consultant assigned to the Giants where he'd receive final medical clearance by week's end.”

The concussion that sidelined him forced New York to rely on Winston in Week 11, but the attack lacked the dual-threat versatility that had defined Dart’s early-season growth. Through his first nine appearances, Dart completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, while also adding 317 rushing yards and seven touchdowns – production that proved he could lead the team.
His return would offer a significant lift for a struggling offense that has lacked creativity and explosive playmaking, as his ability to extend plays remains one of New York’s most valuable assets.
The Giants now prepare for a Week 12 road matchup against the Lions, with kickoff set for 1p.m. ET on Fox, and Dart’s possible availability stands out as one of the most encouraging developments for a team looking to rebound.
