Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants fell to 2-6 on Sunday, losing 38-20 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Dart finished the game completing 14 of 24 passes for 193 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
However, losing the game wasn't the only setback for the Giants. During the second quarter, rookie running back Cam Skattebo had to be carted off the field after suffering a dislocated ankle.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later reported that Skattebo "is scheduled to undergo surgery tonight at a hospital in the Philadelphia area." The 23-year-old running back has been one of the Giants' top players throughout the 2025 season.
After the game, Dart took to Instagram to show support for Skattebo with an emotional message.
"my brother Mann. Got your back no matter what dawg! GODS PLAN," Dart's message read.
Through New York's eight games this year, the running back has rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries. He hauled in 24 receptions for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
It wasn't Dart's only message to Skattebo. In his postgame interview, Dart said, “I was devastated. That’s my boy, so seeing him go down and obviously like reacting to what happened. … It’s the worst part of this game."
Despite the lack of team success, the Giants had found new life with the rookie duo of Dart and Skattebo controlling the offense.
Second-year running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is now set to have an increased role, having just 159 rushing yards and one touchdown so far this season.
Though Dart is sad to see his teammate go down, the goal remains the same and that's to win games. The Giants' next matchup is against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.
