Jay-Z's agency slams Jerry Jones for 'comical' statement involving former Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant

I can't tell you how many times I've said or written this, but here I go again: The Dallas Cowboys? Yeah, they're not a normal team. Sunday morning reminded us of that through a statement from Roc Nation Sports, the player agency founded by music mogul and rapper Jay-Z.

The statement was a response to Jerry Jones, who earlier in the week shared an anecdote about Jay-Z during Dez Bryant's playing days. According to the Cowboys' owner, after negotiating the deal for the wide receiver, Jay-Z failed to return Jones' calls when problems with Bryant arose.

"The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it's also a comical one," read the statement signed by an anonymous "Roc Nation Representative."

“Jerry Jones, I don’t think it’s smart to mention my name,” Bryant wrote in all-caps on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I kept quiet about a lot of unfair (expletive). On some G (expletive)… We can have story time if that’s what we’re doing.”

Why is this even a topic in 2025, years after Bryant retired?

Jerry Jones is currently facing backlash for trying to cut off Micah Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, from negotiations with the Cowboys' star defender. Jones is known to frequently attempt such a practice, often sharing anecdotes about doing it to Tony Romo and other players. He openly tells the media he prefers to deal with a player directly.

Amid the Parsons' negotiations, Jones maintains he agreed to a deal with his player in March. Parsons recently denied those allegations, adding he always told the Cowboys he wanted his agent involved. Earlier in the offseason, he posted on X that there would be no "backdoor" deal.

Jones is, of course, incentivized to leave agents out because negotiating with a player is easier than doing so with someone who does it for a living.
