Jayden Daniels diagnosed with knee sprain

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been diagnosed with a sprained knee following an MRI after Washington's 27-18 Thursday night loss to the Green Bay Packers, sources confirmed per NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Daniels underwent an MRI after the game and then a follow-up appointment today with the Commanders' team physician. The test revealed a knee sprain that puts his status this week in doubt, per Ian Rapoport.

While the injury is not considered long-term, Daniels’ availability for this week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders is uncertain. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to be the team’s starter if Daniels is unable to play.

Daniels’ potential absence puts added responsibility on Mariota and leaves the Commanders evaluating their quarterback depth as they prepare for their Week 3 contest on the road.
