The Washington Commanders have only four games left in this nightmare of a season, and the biggest headline for the remainder of the season will be Jayden Daniels' health.
We saw Daniels return against the Minnesota Vikings, which was short-lived after he went down on his injured elbow without returning. The biggest question remaining is whether Daniels will play again this season, or if he should even be playing right now. We got an update that takes the saga through yet another twist and turn.
Daniels didn't return to the game after Quinn said he was cleared to go back in, but something changed from then to now. Quinn started his press conference by saying that they are ruling Daniels out this week against the New York Giants after doctors advised him to sit out.
"So he [Daniels] did re-aggravate his elbow injury in the game," Quinn said. "No structural setbacks. However, through the medical evaluations, you know, over the last couple of days, including this morning, doctors advised us we hold them this Sunday. So Marcus will start, and really bummed for Jayden, like he is working incredibly hard to get back on the field with his guys."

Quinn said that he hasn't gone down the road of shutting Daniels down for the season, which is something he needs to start thinking about soon, instead of riding this roller coaster.
This is now the fourth separate time this season that Daniels has had to miss a game with an injury, and that's not ideal for a second-year quarterback. Daniels has been injured or out in 11 of the 14 games so far this season, so what's the point of continuing to throw him out there again?
There are only three games left after this week, and it's against opponents who should blow out the Commanders. If Quinn is going to hold him out with the team down 17-0 against the Vikings, then why play him against the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles twice?
Daniels shouldn't return at this rate. At what point is enough enough? The Commanders have hit rock bottom. Another setback could do more damage to Daniels, which is worth more than him playing in three more shutout losses for the Commanders, where he won't even play the full game.
The whole point of Daniels playing again this season was so he could get in-game reps, but he was also held out of the game after being cleared to return when the team was down 17-0 because Quinn said it felt worse than 17-0. So, which one is it? "If he's healthy, then he plays", until he doesn't.
The inconsistency in the handling of his injury is doing more damage than help. Quarterbacks need consistency and rhythm, and he has none of that from the coaching staff right now. This isn't just physically tearing him down with the repeated injuries, but also has to be taking a mental toll on him.

Let Daniels heal and get back to himself with an offseason of refocusing and sharpening his craft. You saw how special he was in his rookie season. Protect him and do right by him by getting the rest of the team right this offseason instead of putting all the weight of the team on Daniels and his health.
