Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has sought to downplay the importance of his sudden issue with LSU.

Daniels posted a statement on Instagram Thursday addressing his conflict with LSU. The quarterback assured Washington fans that he remains fully focused on the NFL season, but said he trusts that his issues with LSU can be resolved privately.

“Obviously there are issues to be worked out between my team and LSU and my hope is that it will get done privately,” Daniels wrote. “My sole personal focus is on Commanders football. I realize the business of football is unique and I trust this can all be resolved.”

Daniels did not specifically address what those “issues” with LSU are. Reports suggest he is unhappy with the Tigers for issuing his No. 5 this season and is demanding the school stop using his name, image, and likeness as a result. He has even reportedly asked the team to give up its copy of his Heisman Trophy.

Daniels likely had to say something, as these reports have not been good for his public image. The general consensus is that Daniels and his team are making themselves look petty and bitter through the conflict, but understandably, he does not sound interested in talking about it any further.
