Jayden Daniels’ Message to Erin Andrews Was Fulfilled on Saturday

Prior to the Washington Commanders’ showdown with the Detroit Lions on Saturday, Jayden Daniels had a sit-down interview with Erin Andrews to discuss his first season in the NFL and the success he had with the team.

The two also discussed the Commanders’ recent performances, particularly the last five games that saw the team win by six points or less and via the last play. In Washington’s wild-card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dan Quinn’s men needed a last-gasp doink from kicker Zane Gonzalez to take the victory.

Daniels admitted that he doesn’t want to be in such situations before sharing his hope to win by double digits.

“The last five games, Jayden, they’ve all come down [to the last play]. What the heck?” Andrews told Daniels to start the conversation about the Commanders’ recent close encounters.

Daniels responded, “I don’t want to be in those situations. Obviously, you’ll love to win by more than just the last play, maybe double digits.”

Interestingly, as fans who watched Saturday’s game would know, Daniels made that very wish a reality after he powered the Commanders to a dominant 45-31 win over the top-seeded Detroit Lions. Considering that the NFC’s best team was considered a -8.5 favorite in the game ( via ESPN BET), only the Washington faithful probably believed that the Commanders could win.

Daniels was sensational in the win, completing 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 16 times for 51 yards, as the Lions’ defense struggled to slow down the Commanders’ offense.

With that, the Commanders’ streak of tight games officially ended, and Daniels got exactly what he wished for with a historic double-digit victory.

Making things even better, the Commanders ended a 33-year wait to reach the NFC title game.
