The Washington Commanders needed the road win against the Los Angeles Chargers to save the hopes of the fan base. The vibes have been low with both road losses coming in ugly fashion on both sides of the ball, but Jayden Daniels had something to say in his homecoming to California.

Daniels being out for the last two weeks dampened the mood and excitement around the team, and no one knew what to expect in his first game back from his knee injury. We should've known that he would put on a show in front of his family and friends in attendance and outperform another great young quarterback in the league. He also broke NFL history in the process, even after missing two games.

The Commanders' offense was clicking again

The Commanders' offense has looked solid over the last two weeks, but the explosive plays and the run game have been missing. Daniels wasted no time reminding people what the offense was capable of, though, even without Terry McLaurin. We didn't know what to expect with Daniels coming back from an injury, but we saw his threat with his legs, as well as the explosive passing game for the first time all season.

Daniels found a rhythm after converting a third-and-16 play to Jaylin Lane, and that's when the party started. That drive ended in the first touchdown for the Commanders after Bill Croskey-Merritt took a run to the house. Daniels followed it up with another precise drive before halftime, highlighted with a dime to Luke McCaffrey.

This was the Daniels performance we've been dying to see since the season started, and he even put the nail in the coffin on a touch throw to Deebo Samuel as he was getting heavy pressure in his face. The Commanders won 27-10, but Daniels left California with more than a victory; he also made history.

Jayden Daniels continues to break records

Daniels finished with 231 passing yards through the air and added another 39 yards on the ground, which led to him breaking another milestone in his young career. Even with missing two games this season and some time last year, Daniels became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in their first 20 career games.

Daniels broke multiple records in his rookie season, and he continues to make history while lifting the Commanders to a much-needed road win against the Chargers. The schedule doesn't get any easier, and the offense can carry this momentum over into next week, and hopefully get McLaurin back as well.
