Jayden Daniels’ Teammate Sounds Off on First Impression of Rookie QB: ‘The Things You Look For’
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Commanders Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner knows a thing or two about elite quarterbacks and is already impressed by what he’s seen from rookie Jayden Daniels.

Bobby Wagner Impressed by Jayden Daniels

Wagner, of course won a Super Bowl with the Russell Wilson-led Seattle Seahawks, and made a Super Bowl appearance with the Los Angeles Rams led by Matthew Stafford, and has gotten an up-close look at Daniels during the Commanders’ OTA practices this spring.

“It’s early, but he shows the potential,” Wagner told reporters, via Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com. “You see the throws. You see the decisions that he’s making. You see the confidence that he has. You see the work that he’s putting in, too. He’s coming in early — whether it’s working out or putting in the film.

“That’s the thing you look for as a vet, someone who wants it. And he definitely does.”

The Commanders have high hopes for Daniels, who was chosen with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft.

While it’s a long way between late-May OTAs and taking the field as the Week 1 starter in September, it seems Daniels is already building a strong chemistry with his teammates.

Daniels unfurled a perfectly placed pass to Jahan Dotson during a May 22 practice that turned heads.

Arriving in the Nation’s Capital having passed for 12,750 yards with 89 touchdowns to just 20 interceptions across five collegiate seasons, Daniels has many believing the arrow is finally pointing up for Washington, including his Super Bowl champion teammate.
