Jayden Higgins Emerging as Houston Texans' Next Breakout Star

While Nico Collins has established himself as the lead wide receiver for the Houston Texans, they have long needed a wide receiver to step up on the opposite side of him for the offense to truly get into a rhythm.

Early on through 2026 training camp, that receiver that seems to be stepping up for Houston is Jayden Higgins.

Higgins has reportedly been "one of the stars" at Texans camp. He has consistently been creating separation and making downfield plays as he improves his chemistry with CJ Stroud.

This comes after a rookie season in which Higgins started to emerge, hauling in 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns. He didn't overwhelm as a rookie, but he showed glimpses of his potential.

Higgins has carried the momentum he finished the 2025 season with into the offseason by adding strength, improving his route running, and even spending time practicing on his own with Stroud. The extra preparation has been noticeable throughout training camp so far.

Higgins already has the size advantage to be a nightmare on the outside and has the versatility to run multiple routes. The Texans seeing how dependable Higgins can be throughout training camp so far, and especially improving on his consistency, should lead to him earning a sizable role early on in the 2026 season and set him up for a breakout year.
